Michael Roy Ward, 61, of Mishawaka, passed away Monday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mike was born in Mishawaka on January 21, 1954 to Roy R. and Barbara J. Ward. On September 29, 1979 he married the former JoAnn Hunter, who survives, along with their children Michael Ward and Jason Palmer of Mishawaka, and Amber and Chad Jay of South Bend. He is also survived by two brothers, Steve (Ann) Ward and Scott Ward of Mishawaka, and two sisters, Linda (Denny) Ewing of Plymouth and Pam Bercaw of Monticello, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, his buddy Marguerite Jay, and his beloved and spoiled dog Zoey. He was preceded in death by his father Roy in 1997, his mother Barbara in 2013, and his mother in law Betty Hunter in 2012.
Mike graduated from Penn High School in 1972, and travelled around the world while serving in the US Air Force from 1973 to 1978. He retired from the US Postal Service in 2010 after 27 years of service.
Mike enjoyed travelling with JoAnn in his retirement, as well as spending time relaxing at home. He had a lot of great memories of fishing trips with his dad and brothers. Mike had an exceptional sense of humor, and all of his family have happy memories of his fun loving personality and loud, contagious laugh.
Honoring Michael’s wishes,there will be no visitation or services. Bubb Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
