Victoria E.(Vickie) DeWitt-Audenaert-Sowders, 68, of Village Drive, Mishawaka, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at her home. She was born on March 31, 1946 in Mishawaka to Lawrence and Sadie (Weston) DeWitt who preceded her in death along with her grandparents: Luella D DeWitt and Onley DeWitt. As Victoria E. (Vickie) DeWitt- Audenaert, she married James D. Sowders. He died November 10, 2010. Vickie was a Secretary for Workforce Development and then with the Family and Children’s Services until her retirement in 2012. She was a 1964 graduate of Mishawaka High School. She is survived by her two daughters: Kelly L. (Mark A Keen Sr.) Audenaert and Kerry L. (Artis L. Jackson) Audenaert of Valrico, Florida. Five sisters: Patricia Solmos, Bobbie DeWitt, Debbie DeWitt, Marla Dixon and Barb Walker along with a brother-in-law, Scott S. Solmos. There are four stepchildren along with nieces, Connie Harmon, Rebekah Solmos and Rachel Solmos. Two nephews: Gordon Smith Jr. and Wes Solmos and three cousins: Tommy Glover, Russell DeWitt and Judy Kurnyak. Four grandchildren: Franky Jackson, Tiana V. Denney, Trace R. Keen and Joseph L. Audenaert. Nine step grandchildren and an uncle, Lindol DeWitt and her faithful companion and best friend, Lady. Funeral services for Vickie will be held at 2:00pm at Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka on Thursday, February 19th, 2015, where friends will be received from 4 until 8pm on Wednesday, February 18th. Burial will follow the services on Thursday at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545-5234.
Bob Butz went to heaven after passing away very peacefully at sunrise at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, Michigan. Bob was born to George and Margaret (Worrell) Butz on December 26, 1916 and at 98 years of age was a life-long Mishawaka resident .Bob loved telling stories about the escapades of he and his four brothers as they grew up on Fourth Street. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1936 and was active in their alumni association. He met the love of his life, Ruth Williams at Bank Night at the Tivoli theater and they were married on December 30, 1939 in Mishawaka. They recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. When asked the secret of a long and happy marriage, Bob would say “Never go to bed mad, stay up and fight”, communication was the key. He would often sum up his life by saying, “I was raised with four brothers and then I had four girls and boy did my life change!”
Bob worked at CE Lee and making overalls, and at Studebaker but fondly remembered managing the Sheltered Workshop for Disabled Adults in Elkhart and working as a fireman at Bingham and Southside schools. He loved working in his garden of flowers and fruit trees and “puttering around” at his workbench.
In recent years, Bob began to study the genealogy of his family and was so excited with each and every discovery. He was made an honorary member of the Beacon Falls Fire Department where his father had been chief in 1897.
Bob is survived by his wife Ruth, and his four daughters, Barbara Davis of St. Joseph, MI, Kay (Larry)Green of Mishawaka, Jill (Barry) Robertson of St. Joseph, MI, and Susan (Jack) Sukup of Granger. Bob also leaves grandchildren, John Davis, Jesse(Paula)Davis, Tom (Mindy)Davis, Angela(Ray) Olson, Michelle(Eric)Ellenberger, Larry (Tina)Green, Ryan(Kathy)Green, Kristin Sizer, Jodie (Paul) Zeuke, Jennifer (Mike) Morris, Amy (Ray)Woodruff, Andrea(Bryan)Rundio, Erin(Brad)Hafner, John Sukup and many great and great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brothers George, Ray, Howard, Lloyd, and Lester, his “second mother”, his mother in law, Hazel Williams, and three grandsons.
A visitation will be held at Bubb’s Funeral Home in Mishawaka on Wednesday, February 18th from 2:00-4:00pm, and 6:00-8:00pm. Services will be held on Thursday, February 19th at 10:00am at East United Methodist Church with viewing one hour before the service.

Miriam J. Goddard, 89, of Mishawaka, IN passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at her residence, with her loving and caring family at her bedside.
Miriam was born on January 6, 1926 in Mishawaka, IN to Elmer E. and Cecile (Manuwal) Smith. Miriam is preceded in death by her parents and 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
On January 6, 2000, Miriam married Raymond Goddard in Mishawaka, IN. Miriam is survived by her husband Raymond and her 3 children, Kenneth (Diana) Eby of Elkhart, IN, Linda Eby of Florida and Gloria Eby of Mishawaka, IN. Miriam was grandmother to 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Miriam is also survived by 2 brothers, Vernon T. Smith, Roger T. Smith both of Osceola, IN, 2 sisters, Janice Mabry of Texas and Judy Strouse of Bremen, IN.
Miriam graduated from Mishawaka High School. Miriam worked in the Style and Designing Department at Uniroyal Corporation, retiring in 1988. Miriam’s children said that their mother’s hobby was being a workaholic, never resting always working. Miriam was a member of the Calvary Chapel Church in Granger, IN.
The family will receive friends from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Bubb Funeral Chapel 3910 N Main St Mishawaka. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, February 18, 2015, with 1 hour visitation prior, with Pastor Bob Moore officiating at the Calvary Chapel Church 53494 Fir Rd Granger, IN. Burial will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka.

Virgil L. Jewell, 93, of Mishawaka, passed away during the early morning hours of Sunday, February 8th in his residence surrounded by his loving family. Virgil was born in Three Rivers, Michigan on September 13, 1921 to the late Carl and Edna D. (Leeth) Jewell. On December 23, 1950 he married Anna Belle (Freet) in Elkhart, Indiana. She preceded him in death on March 7, 2010. In his younger days he raced stock cars, he was car #73. He retired from Animal ByProducts in New Carlisle in 1983.
Virgil is survived by his children; George Imus of Mishawaka, Leroy (Barbara) Imus of Niles, Michigan, V. Glen (Cindy) Jewell of South Bend, Betty Rink of Mishawaka, and Patricia Ann Windslow of Mishawaka. He was the grandfather of 12, and great grandfather of 36 and a great-great grandfather of 7. He was known as “Dad” and has many adopted children and grandchildren. He was preceded by a son, Gary Imus, a daughter-in-law, Sandy Imus, a brother, Harold Jewell and a sister, Geraldine Adams.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, February 12th, from 4 until 8:00 pm, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., and one hour prior to the service. A service celebrating Virgil’s life will be held on Friday, February 13th at 11:00 am, in the funeral chapel with Chaplain Trevor Foley officiating. Burial is to take place in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Memorial contributions may be made in Virgil’s name to the Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.

Dale B. Piotrowski, 73, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away in the evening on Saturday February 7, 2015, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord… In His presence is fullness of joy.
Mr. Piotrowski was born on May 16, 1941, in South Bend, IN, to the late Bernard E. and Evangeline R. (Tanner) Piotrowski. He grew up in Mishawaka and graduated from Mishawaka High School. Dale worked two jobs for many years as a truck driver and a security guard at nights and weekends. In his younger years he enjoyed taking his family to Lake Latonka, family bike rides, teaching his children how to swim, playing baseball, and was also involved in Indian Guides with his son. As the children grew he enjoyed going to Penn football games and BCS basketball as he supported his kids. He eventually retired from Holland Motor Express of South Bend and was a proud member of Teamster Local 364. After retirement, he worked part-time at Jaccar in Mishawaka.
Dale is survived by his children; Kent (Jenny) Piotrowski, of Mishawaka, IN, Michele (David) Hayes, of South Bend, IN, sister, Karen Heiland, of Elkhart, IN, and four grandsons, Ben (Lyndsay) Piotrowski, of Jacksonville, Fl, Cody Piotrowski at home, JD Hayes, of Rapid City, SD, Bradley Hayes, at home, and a friend Donna Davis.
Dale was a member of the Mishawaka High School Alumni and First Baptist Church Mishawaka. His hobbies were attending the sports and school activities of his four beloved grandsons. He also enjoyed fine cars and trucks and entering car shows with his friend Pat Slater.
Visitation for Dale will be held on Friday February 13, 2015 from 4-8 pm in Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Mains St., Mishawaka, IN. A funeral service will be held on Saturday February 14, 2015 at 10 am with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
