Maree Ellen Klopfenstein
September 4, 1920 – November 30, 2018
On Friday, November 30, 2018 at 5:30pm, Maree Ellen Graverson Klopfenstein went home to be with her Lord and Savior at Southfield Village in South Bend, IN.
Maree was born on September 4, 1920 in Bremen, IN. She was married to Robert Leroy Klopfenstein (1919 – 1981), they raised three children, who are now left behind to cherish her memory are Donald L. Klopfenstein (Judy), Kenneth Dean Klopfenstein (Linda) and Nancy Ann Geegan (David). She also leaves behind her six grandchildren, Joy Cortez (John), Joel Klopfenstein (Erin), Tim Klopfenstein, Michelle Allen (Jim), Karen Maree Clayborn, and Lori Maree Carey (Brian), in addition to 13 great grandchildren. Her parents, Theodore and Bernice Graverson, her six siblings, son-in-law Mike Clayborn, and her husband Robert Leroy Klopfenstein have passed on before her.
Maree and Bob loved to travel on short trips to visit their kids; when Don was in the Navy and when Ken was in the Army. In addition, Maree continued to travel after Bob’s passing. She visited friends and family in Spain, Germany, Dominican Republic, Haiti, and California. Maree worked for 28 years at Mishawaka St. Joseph Hospital on 4th street, she was a nursing assistant in the newborn nursery. Maree so enjoyed it when strangers would come up to her and say you took care of my babies. She would just beam. Even at 98, Maree still cared for many people and how they were.
We the family would like to especially thank Tom and Norma Goepfrinch, for their continued loving care for Maree, taking her to Hillcrest Baptist Church for Sunday services and going to lunch. In addition, we would like to extend thanks to Southfield Village for the excellent care provided to Maree.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 5th from 10:00 AM until service time at the Hillcrest Baptist Church, 59220 Bremen Highway, Mishawaka 46544. A service celebrating Maree’s life will be held at 12:00 pm with Pastor Black officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Bremen Cemetery next to her husband. Friends are invited back to the church following the committal for fellowship. Bubb Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with final arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Maree’s life to Hillcrest Baptist Church 59220 Bremen Highway, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
